You probably know that Greenfield Advisors (formerly Mundy Associates) was founded in 1976, making this our 40th anniversary. To celebrate, we asked our Founder, Dr. Bill Mundy, to describe what it was like to set up the firm and some of the early research projects he took on. We also asked our Managing Director, Dr. John A. Kilpatrick, to describe the events surrounding his departure from the University of South Carolina to take over the reins of the firm in the late 1990s. Finally, I describe the circumstances of my employment at Greenfield Advisors, which started at an academic conference in San Francisco when John’s wife Lynnda and my wife Amelia met each other and then introduced John and me to each other.

I think you will find our 40th anniversary monograph enlightening, especially the description of Greenfield’s transition from a Pacific Northwest-focused firm to one with a national scope focusing on residential mortgage-backed securities and issues at the intersection of database architecture, big data, appraisal, and statistical programming. Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Clifford A. Lipscomb, Ph.D., MRICS
