Last week, a large group of Greenfield Institute representatives attended various training sessions in Charlotte, NorthCarolina, sponsored by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC). The sessions highlighted several different areas of focus for housing counselors that directly relate to the mission of Greenfield Institute. Attendees came from all over the United States.

Many of the Greenfield Institute employees attended a course designed to prepare housing counselors for the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Counselor Exam. This five-day course provided an in-depth look at all the different areas relevant to housing counselors including: financial management and budgeting, housing affordability, fair housing, homeownership, avoiding foreclosure, and rental housing/tenancy.

Other Greenfield representatives attended sessions related to fair housing, financial coaching, homebuyer education, and emergency preparedness. These sessions provided a more granular and specialized study in each area.

Greenfield Institute is proud to have been a direct contributor for this training event both in the preparation of the NCRC Disaster Course-Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Counseling, and in providing the Instructor for the same.

Greenfield’s attendance at the NCRC training was a rewarding experience. The knowledge gained and the relationships built will continue to benefit our organization for years to come. Greenfield Institute looks forward to applying these skills in our work for the benefit of our communities.
