What are some memorable projects for you?

I believe the most recently completed Mortgage Backed Security cases will be my most memorable projects, which were the first projects I started on as a Team Lead and where I was able to work closely with our analysts.

What lessons have you learned over your career?

The first and foremost lesson is that it’s never a bad idea to ask more questions. The second lesson would be that I enjoy an ever-evolving work environment over a static one.

What made you choose your career path?

As of right now, my career path has not been defined by any real forethought. This position started out as a temporary data entry clerk on nightshift and has grown to be where I am now.

Why did you choose to work for Greenfield Advisors?

I chose to work for Greenfield out of necessity at first. I had just moved to Seattle and Greenfield was the best option I found. But, as the years have gone by, I have chosen to stay because I’ve never worked for a company with such a collection of dedicated and inspirational people.

Where did you grow up?

My family is originally from Chicago but at a very young age I moved to Missouri. I grew up north of Springfield out in the rural countryside.

What was your first job?

I’ve had many odd jobs since I was a little kid: working for my father or for a neighbor doing simple tasks like stacking hay or chopping firewood. My first real job was working in my local town’s only tech store.

What are your favorite ways to spend your free time?

Currently, my favorite way to spend free time is the study and practice of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Within the last few months, I’ve also discovered the joy and anguish of Breathe Hot Yoga.

Tell us about your family.

Well, my parents still live back in Missouri. I have five brothers and three sisters (and too many nieces and nephews to count). I’m the seventh out of the nine kids in the family. Right now, I have a brother and a sister living out here in Washington, and the rest are spread throughout the Midwest and South from Austin to St. Louis.

What’s your favorite vacation spot?

My favorite vacation spot will always be going back home. There’s a lot I’ve not seen of the world and a lot more that I will never get the chance to see, but no matter what happens or where I go I’ll always find going back home as being the best way to spend my vacation.

What’s on your bucket list?

When I was young, I read about the speed tests performed by Chuck Yeager. It’s always been a dream of mine to learn to fly, and then to fly a plane beyond the sound barrier.

What’s one habit you do on a daily basis?

Every day I have to get my fill of Jiu Jitsu, either by watching instructional videos, reading philosophies and strategies from some of the best in the world, or by practicing and training.

Give us a few surprising facts about you that people may not know.

I am a huge space nerd. I love reading articles about new discoveries and what the latest space probes are looking into, or where they are traveling. I even woke myself up at three in the morning to watch the live stream from Curiosity as it broke through the Martian atmosphere and landed on the surface. I’m also ambidextrous, and I had knee reconstruction surgery when I was 14-years-old.
