Senior Analysts: John Kilpatrick, Ph.D, MRICS, Managing Member -- Dr. Kilpatrick is a Member of the Faculty of Valuation of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a nationally certified Appraisal Standards Instructor and a Visiting Scholar in the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch, College, New York City. He holds a PhD. in Real Estate Finance and an MBA. His doctoral dissertation was on Real Estate Investment Trusts. The author of four books, numerous journal articles and book chapters, he is a sought-after public speaker as one of the nation’s foremost experts on complex valuation models. Dr. Kilpatrick is an expert witness in state and federal courts and other tribunals throughout the U.S. , and testifies frequently on real estate and business valuation, complex contract disputes, and construction defects cases. He is a Certified (General) Appraiser in numerous states. Clifford A. Lipscomb, Ph.D, Director, Economic Research -- Dr. Lipscomb holds baccalaureate degrees in economics and sociology from Berry College and a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Previously he was an Associate Professor of Economics at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA and a research economist at the Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington, DC. Dr. Lipscomb also is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the ACCRA Cost-of-Living Index, actively consults with the federal government on real estate appraisal issues, and is the Book Review Editor for the Review of Regional Studies journal. Outside of economics, Dr. Lipscomb is a judge for the United States Scholastic Band Association, the Florida Federation of Color Guards, the Southern Association for the Performing Arts, and the Atlantic Indoor Association. From 2006-2010, Dr. Lipscomb coordinated all of marching percussion activities for the Valdosta State University Blazin’ Brigade marching band. Christopher A. Miner, MAI, FRICS; Chief Operating Officer -- Mr. Miner is a former chapter president of the Appraisal Institute and remains involved as a member of the Appraisal Institute's National GIS Project Team within the Technology Special Interest Group. He has authored six seminars and taught more than a dozen seminars and courses for the Appraisal Institute and the University of Connecticut. The author of several articles and a chapter in the forthcoming text Visual Valuation, (Appraisal Institute, 2010), he has a national reputation for GIS applications in real estate site selection, valuation, and market analysis and for the valuation of marinas and other waterfront properties. Mr. Miner has developed sales forecasting and market planning models for retail and healthcare companies and valuations on complex properties and has led market analysis projects across the country. He has been involved in litigation before state and federal courts; is a state certified (general) appraiser, and a real estate broker. Bill Mundy, Ph.D., MAI, Director, Emeritus -- Dr. Mundy holds a Ph.D. in Urban Economics from the University of Washington . Among many other honors, he is a Fellow of the Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and Land Economics. Dr. Mundy is a Certified (General) Appraiser in several states. Will Spiess, MBA, Senior Analyst -- Mr. Spiess provides leadership on some of the nation’s most complex real estate litigation and analysis projects. Notably, Mr. Spiess coordinated the analysis of the Farnsworth House for the Friends of the Chicago Art Museum as well as the Murphy Oil Spill analysis for homeowners in post-Katrina New Orleans. Mr. Spiess is the co-author of “Valuation of Impaired Property” which appears in When Bad Things Happen to Good Property and several other important papers on complex real estate issues. He holds an MBA from the University of Washington, and did his graduate work in Washington’s Runstad Center for Real Estate. Staff Analysts: Gabriel Bolden, MS, GIS Analyst -- Mr. Bolden holds a master's degree in Geography (minor in Urban & Regional Planning) from the University of Florida. Zachery Clements, BA, Associate Analyst -- A graduate in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado with extensive experience in environmental consulting, Mr. Clements works primarily on contamination litigation, complex property valuation, and Brownfield redevelopment. John Dickerson, BA, Associate Analyst – Mr. Dickerson is an appraiser (Certified General) and a graduate of the University of Washington; he works primarily on complex real estate valuation. Ian Ebright, Associate Analyst -- Mr. Ebright works primarily with large-scale environmental contamination litigation and trophy property valuation. He is a Washington State Registered Real Estate Appraiser Trainee and is pursuing Certified General status. Brian Fulbright, MS, Associate Analyst -- A graduate of the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver with a Master’s in Finance and a Master’s in Real Estate & Construction Management. Mr. Fulbright also holds a B.A. in Geography with a minor in Urban Planning from the University of Washington, and primarily works on complex property valuation. Jonathan S. Kilpatrick, BA, Business Development Analyst -- A graduate in Real Estate Finance from Washington State University, Mr. Kilpatrick was a researcher for the Center for Real Estate Research. He is engaged in the evaluation and development of the firm's capital management projects. Andy Krause, MA, Analyst -- Mr. Krause holds a master’s degree in Planning from the University of Arizona. While working towards his graduate degree, he utilized econometric modeling to study the economics of historic preservation in Tucson, Arizona. His undergraduate degree is in Geography, with a minor in GIS, is from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Mr. Krause also has experience in the public planning sector, working in both Wisconsin and Idaho, along with a background in commercial construction, and will be starting his Ph.D. candidacy in the Fall of 2010 at the University of Washington. Max Kummerow, Ph.D., Associate Analyst -- Dr. Kummerow served on the Real Estate faculty at Washington State University, teaching real estate finance and investments. Dr. Kummerow studied real estate under James Graaskamp at the University of Wisconsin, and holds a doctorate from Curtin University in Australia. He was the winner of the 2002 Swango Award for best paper in Residential Appraisal or Technology from the Appraisal Institute. Dr. Kummerow provides assistance in complex econometric models and advanced real estate analysis issues, with particular emphasis on time-series and cross-sectional models. Kerry Mulvaney, BA, Analyst -- A graduate of the University of Wisconsin and our former Research Manager, Ms. Mulvaney has been with the firm for more than ten years. A Certified General appraiser licesed in several states, she specializes in eminent domain cases and environmental contamination litigation. Jonathan Putman, BA, Associate Analyst -- A graduate in Environmental Sciences from Clemson University, Mr. Putman works primarily on Preservation/Conservation projects as well as large-scale environmental contamination litigation. Linda Tayntor, BA, Associate Analyst -- A Certified General Real Estate appraiser licensed in New York and Washington, Ms. Tayntor works primarily on complex real estate valuation. Sarah J. Kilpatrick, BA, Research Analyst -- A graduate in International Business (minoring in Economics) from Washington State University, Ms. Kilpatrick works primarily on large-scale environmental contamination litigation. Ongoing Consultants: Vicki Adams, MA -- Ms. Adams has written numerous journal articles about contaminated property and holds a Master’s in Geography from the University of Washington. A Certified (General) Real Estate Appraiser in several states, Ms. Adams primarily works with us on Preservation/Conservation projects. Kaethe Fulton, MA -- Ms. Fulton provides market research and economic analysis of neighborhoods impacted by negative externalities. Ms. Fulton holds a Master of Arts in Environmental Studies from Evergreen State College, and is a Certified (General) Appraiser in Washington and Oregon. Mike Mulhern, Ph.D, President of Mulhern Consulting -- Dr. Mulhern provides custom survey research and marketing database modeling for our clients. He has a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Washington , an MBA from Northern Illinois University , a BA in Economics from Marquette University and is a nationally recognized expert on market research methods. Currently a member of the American Marketing Association’s Applied Research Methods Conference Advisory Committee, Dr. Mulhern recently coauthored a paper on optimal segmentation methods that won the best paper award at an international market research conference held in Warsaw , Poland. Robert Simons, Ph.D. -- Dr. Simons is a Professor and former director of the Master of Urban Planning, Design and Development program at the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also the faculty advisor for their Certificate Program in Real Estate Development and Finance. Dr. Simons has been a Fulbright Scholar at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr. Simons received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in City and Regional Planning, with an emphasis in real estate. He also holds a Master of Regional Planning and a Master of Science in Economics, both from U.N.C. He recently authored Turning Brownfields into Greenbacks, (published by Urban Land Institute), and When Bad Things Happen to Good Property, (published by Environmental Law Institute). Dr. Simons has an active consulting practice, particularly in survey research, and has served as an expert witness in matters related to Real Estate and Environmental damages. Ron Throupe, Ph.D -- Dr. Throupe holds his doctorate in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Georgia. Among his many accomplishments, he is an elected member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries. Dr. Throupe recently joined the University of Denver. He was the Acting Director of the Runstad Center for Real Estate at the University of Washington and was on the Real Estate Faculty at Washington State University. Kimberly Winson-Geideman, Ph.D. -- Dr. Winson-Geidemon is on the faculty of the University of North Texas, and holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Cleveland State University. She is a prolific author on real estate, particularly in the areas of valuation, survey research and brownfields. Her recent refereed articles include “Environmental Case Studies: Ensuring Suitable Comparables” (The Appraisal Journal); “Determining Market Perceptions on Contamination of Residential Property Buyers using Contingent Valuation Surveys” (Journal of Real Estate Research); and “Tracking Remediation and Redevelopment Trends of Brownfield Cleanup Programs: The Cook County Experience” (Journal of Environmental Planning and Management)
