What are some memorable projects for you?
The preponderance of my experience at Greenfield has been in mortgage-backed securities cases. These projects stand out in my mind as the most memorable because they feel like more of an exhaustive team effort. It is a wonderful feeling to have your coworkers working just as diligently by your side, striving for a common goal, and working together to meet deadlines with the best possible work product.
What lessons have you learned over your career?
I think the most valuable lesson I’ve learned thus far in my career is to remain calm when situations become stressful. It might feel like wasting valuable time when things are coming down to the wire, but a well-devised plan of attack is always superior to going into a task blindly and potentially having to redo work. More generally, stay positive, put in the most effort possible, and help those around you to the best of your ability.
What made you choose your career path?
I think I have always been destined to be some sort of analyst or researcher. I’m far too curious about how everything works and am constantly breaking things down into their constitute parts to have not arrived at this type of profession. I never imagined I would be in real estate or economic analysis, but the intricacies of so many things that were unknown to me before have proved to be endlessly fascinating and rewarding.
Why did you choose to work for Greenfield?
Although I was initially hired on at Greenfield as a temporary Data Entry Clerk, I chose to work here because of the wonderful environment, and to learn more about a new sector. Later, I was offered a position as a full time Analyst (owing to my background in research). I then chose to work at Greenfield because I had the chance to see what amazing work was being produced here. I knew that the environment was highly supportive of learning new skills, and I was very excited to become an integral part of the team and to help find innovative solutions to complex problems.
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. The Midwest is great for saving money and has some pretty areas (The Ozarks are beautiful!), but I much prefer living in the lovely Pacific Northwest.
What was your first job?
My first job was lifeguarding with the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. It was sort of an accident getting the job, but I was awarded Rookie of the Year that summer.
What are your favorite ways to spend your free time?
I love to go to the dog park with my French Bulldog, color, snowboard, and travel.
Tell us about your family.
My parents were both born and raised in Southwest Missouri (my dad was even born in a house, like a true, old-school Midwesterner). My dad still lives in the same house that I lived in when I was six and loves to restore old cars. My mom, like me, felt the itch to move westward and now lives in Leadville, Colorado, and enjoys cross country skiing.
What’s your favorite vacation spot?
I’m not sure that I’ve traveled enough yet to have determined a favorite vacation spot, but I did just get back from spending time with my fiancée in Montreal. It’s a really beautiful city and has a very unique atmosphere. I would highly recommend it if you enjoy great food and seeing live music.
What’s on your bucket list?
I just marked off going to a dual-level driving range with our office, so I suppose all I have left is to see Daft Punk play a live show and to travel the world as much as my means will allow.
What’s one habit you do on a daily basis?
One thing I can say that I do consistently is thank myself for buying a Sonicare Toothbrush. I swear I’m not a paid spokesperson; they are simply that fantastic.
Give us a surprising fact about you that people may not know.
I got to fly an airplane for a few moments during a physics camp the summer before 5th grade.
