What are some memorable projects for you?

While I was an intern for the City of Rome, Georgia, I coordinated their “If I were mayor, I would…” project. Elementary school kiddos wrote enlightening essays explaining what they would do if they were the mayor and then read them to the real mayor and city commissioners.

At Berry College, I took an animal science feeds class. We raised baby chicks and experimented with different rations of feed and monitored their growth as the semester progressed.

What lessons have you learned over your career?

So far in my short career, I have learned that relationships are important, and you never know how connections will be made so that opportunities can arise.

What made you choose your career path?

I chose this path because I genuinely love studying economics and learning how and why things happen the way that they do. When I learned about Greenfield Advisors and the work that the company does, I knew that this position aligned perfectly with anything that I could imagine in a career.

Why did you choose to work for Greenfield Advisors?

I chose to work for Greenfield Advisors because it was an opportunity for me to use my economics background from Berry College in a way that allowed me to continue to learn and further my experience in the areas that I was already interested in from research in my college courses. It was a perfect match!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Sparta, Tennessee, a tiny town between Nashville and Knoxville famous for bluegrass music. Even though it’s little, it has character. Sparta even has its own word—“yert” (a friendly greeting that was created many generations back). Sparta is the only town where yert is known and understood.

What was your first job?

When I was 13, I began working at our local drive-in movie theater that my uncle owns. I started out pouring Pepsi fountain drinks. When I got a little older, I popped and buttered giant buckets of popcorn.

What are your favorite ways to spend your free time?

In my free time, I love to cook! I enjoy finding new recipes and strolling around the grocery store on the weekends. I also love sports and exploring outside. I like to play softball, volleyball, and Frisbee.

Tell us about your family.

My parents live in Sparta, Tennessee, where my dad is a firefighter, and my mom is a fleet manager for Averitt Express, one of the largest logistics companies in the nation. My parents have a dog, Blanche, that loves to eat peanut butter and chase rabbits.

What’s your favorite vacation spot?

I love Denver, Colorado. I’ve been twice—once for skiing and another time just for vacation. I love exploring the mountains and watching my favorite baseball team—the Colorado Rockies.

What’s on your bucket list?

I would love to start my own food and restaurant blog. I love cooking and visiting out of the ordinary restaurants while traveling, so I think this would be a fun way to share my experiences with others.

What’s one habit you do on a daily basis?

I drink coffee every day. I love to drink it first thing in the morning and right before bed. I know it sounds crazy, but I have just loved the taste of coffee since I was a little girl.

Give us a few surprising facts about you that people may not know.

I am an only child and an only grandchild.

I love antiques. They are fascinating pieces of our history, and I love to use them in new, interesting ways.

I have a lot in common with Cliff Lipscomb, our Director of Economic Research. We both have undergraduate degrees in economics from Berry College, we both had an internship with the City of Rome, Georgia, and we are both members of the same economics honor society, Omicron Delta Epsilon.
