What lessons have you learned over your career?

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

What made you choose your career path?

I was an academic and was looking for an opportunity to conduct research that had practical business implications.

Why did you choose to work for Greenfield Advisors?

I had an opportunity to mix my own personal research interests with those of clients, and it was an opportunity to move back to north Georgia.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Cartersville, Georgia, and today I live there with my family just minutes from the office.

What was your first job?

I sold goods at Sears, was a peer counselor at a children’s emergency shelter, and a cook at Mrs. Winner’s and Blimpie.

What are your favorite ways to spend your free time?

I spend it with my four kids and wife. I also love to travel as often as possible.

I want to visit every state; I have five left.

What’s one habit you do on a daily basis?

Drink coffee, catch up on overnight news, and listen to percussion music.

Give us a few surprising facts about you that people may not know.

My mother has worked at the same company for 40 years (generally unheard of these days). I own a real estate holding company. I’m the first in my family to graduate from college. I live in my great-grandmother’s house.
