  • The death of defined benefit plans
Actually, this is old news.  It’s fairly well accepted now that, at least here in the U.S. and in the U.K., the only jobs with defined benefit retirement plans (or nearly so) are in the public sector — government employees, military, and the like.  There are a few union-specified plans still out there, but given the [...]

Welcome to Greenfield Advisors

Wednesday, 22 September 2010 12:46 Written by John Casker

Since 1976, Greenfield Advisors has been on the cutting edge of economic analysis, with a focus on complex real estate issues such as litigation, development, and preservation. From our headquarters in Seattle, we serve clients throughout the world. The breadth of our experience is illustrated by such high-profile projects as the preservation of the Hearst Ranch at San Simeon, the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill litigation, and multiple post-Hurricane Katrina matters. In recent years, we’ve advised the Japan Real Estate Institute and the U.S. General Services Administration, as well as countless corporate, institutional, and litigation clients, and we’ve lectured on these topics in Europe, Asia, and America.

Over the years, Greenfield Advisors has been best known for our expertise in contaminated property class actions. Dr. Bill Mundy, our founder, introduced the term “stigma” into the appraisal lexicon, and our widely cited method of mass appraisal has been adopted in both state and federal cases throughout the United States. Today, Greenfield Advisors is regarded as one of the leading firms in the world in our three core areas:

  1. Economics and valuation of real estate class actions, mass torts, and other complex cases
  2. Brownfield advice, focused on investment valuation, feasibility studies, adaptive reuse, and financing
  3. Advising on high-amenity trophy property, particularly property with unique environmental, historical, paleontological, or other unique assets

Threaded through this is a commitment to excellence, intellectual rigor, and constant improvement in the quality of our work. While other firms have been forced to retrench during the recession, Greenfield Advisors finds demand for its services at an all-time high. Our clients call us in those critical situations when “second best” simply won’t do. We’re proud that we’ve earned that level of trust. We look forward to working with you.
